The Phases of Restoration at Customs & Hot Rods of Andice

Car restoration is our passion. We love the work, we love the cars, and we love sharing our passion with clients and those new to the custom and vintage car restoration world. Our team is proud to have undertaken a variety of restoration projects and as such, we have a bit of a system. The following is a quick look at the different phases or steps that we undertake whenever a client comes to us with a complete car restoration project:

The Many Different Phases of Restoration Undertaken at Customs & Hot Rods of Andice

Initial consultation. First up, we invite every client to come in and visit our facilities and meet our team when they are ready to bring in their project car. This intake stage will include a thorough inspection of the vehicle and a consultation with you to determine your goals and identify any major challenges.

  • Disassembly. Next up, we'll remove the major components and any minor components, fasteners, and like parts requiring attention. These parts get identified and cataloged with orders made for any ones requiring replacement.
  • Paint removal. Optional, but any restoration project requiring painting will undergo a complete removal of its current paint.
  • Custom fabrication. Just about every vintage car is going to be in need of some metal fabrication work. This includes corrosion repairs as well as body panel correction and replacements. Additionally, smaller metal components may require machining or similar fabrication attention.
  • Painting. Once the metal fabrication and any necessary trim are done, it's on to painting. This is an extensive process that begins with paint color and type selection and involves application throughout the vehicle's inner and exterior body as well as chassis as desired.
  • Assembly. Now it's time to put everything back together. All of the metal components that we disassembled will be replaced and at this stage you'll really start seeing what the end result of the vehicle restoration process will be.
  • Upholstery. Upholstery work is done in tandem with re-assembly and often includes the installation of all-new carpet, leather, or other seating and floor materials. For this stage, we highly recommend you coming back into the shop to be sure the color shades and material feel are exactly what you expect and want.
  • Safety check and final tuning. Once everything is refitted, our team will take the vehicle out for a complete test drive that will enable us to undergo a safety inspection and see how the restored vehicle acts underway.
  • Pick-up. Once the vehicle is certified complete by our team, it's time for you to take your newly restored car out and about! You can either pick-up at our location or we will have it taken to you.
